Washington, DC—The Task Force on American Innovation, a coalition of businesses, trade groups, scientific and engineering societies, and university organizations which supports federally-funded scientific research, today issued the following statement on the funding for key research agencies in the FY23 Omnibus:
“We are pleased the FY23 omnibus appropriations bill includes funding increases for NSF, DOE’s Office of Science, NASA, and programs like the Department of Commerce Regional Innovation and Technology Hubs and NIST research and manufacturing programs. Growing federal investment in scientific research is vital to our nation’s innovation capacity and economic competitiveness. The omnibus caps an important legislative year where the CHIPS & Science Act was signed into law, making a significant investment in innovation needed for America to compete globally and providing a roadmap for federal research investments in key science agencies. The omnibus takes important initial steps toward boosting research investments to ensure the United States remains the global innovation leader. We look forward to passage of the bill and to working with the new Congress and the administration next year to further strengthen the innovation enterprise to ensure American scientific and technology leadership in the future.”
