Task Force on American Innovation Co-Chairs Praise Omnibus Deal
Call investment in science research an “important step forward”
Washington, DC— The Task Force on American Innovation (TFAI) today issued the following statement from its Co-chairs, Josh Shiode and Kathleen Kingscott, on the omnibus spending agreement:
“The Task Force on American Innovation applauds the strong funding for key federal research agencies in the omnibus deal announced yesterday. By providing at least four percent real growth in funding for science and technology research across federal agencies, and in some cases much more, this omnibus represents an important step forward in ensuring America maintains its commitment to innovation.
“Decades of American leadership in science and innovation have returned tremendous benefits to American society by creating new, highly paid jobs and spawning entirely new industries. The increases for the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of Energy, including the Office of Science, the National Nuclear Security Administration and ARPA-E, the Department of Defense Science and Technology, and DARPA will seed the discoveries and innovations that will make our tomorrow brighter, safer, and more prosperous. We applaud the leadership from both parties and the congressional Appropriations Committees in bringing this agreement to fruition. We look forward to continuing to work with them to fully fund the science, technology and engineering research that underpins American competitiveness.”
