Washington, DC—The Task Force on American Innovation, a coalition of businesses, trade groups, scientific and engineering societies, and university organizations which supports federally-funded scientific research, today issued the following statement on the release of the Biden Administration’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Discretionary Spending Request:

“In January, the Task Force on American Innovation called on the Biden Administration to prioritize support for the U.S. scientific research enterprise as an essential step toward our nation’s economic recovery and a critical component of our global competitiveness. We are pleased that the Biden Administration has proposed significant increases for such research throughout its FY 2022 Discretionary Request and look forward to working with the Administration as it provides additional details on its FY22 budget request.

“Now is the time for Congress to take bipartisan action to ensure America remains a top global innovator.  The Biden Administration’s prioritization of increased funding for research and development is a welcomed step in that direction.”
