Task Force on American Innovation Announces Kathleen Kingscott as New Co-Chair
IBM Research Vice President Will Help Lead Coalition Devoted to Basic Research Funds

Washington, DC — The Task Force on American Innovation, a nonpartisan coalition of US industry, academia and science that supports funding for scientific research, today named Kathleen Kingscott, IBM Research Vice President, as its new Co-Chair.

“We are so excited to have Ms. Kingscott take on this leadership role,” said TFAI Executive Director, Stewart Barber. “She has been a leading member of this coalition for many years. We are thrilled she is taking on this expanded leadership role.”

“I am honored that my colleagues have asked me serve in this role as together we fight for more funding for basic research,” Kingscott said. “Basic research is critical for economic growth and we are going to push hard this year for Congress to fully fund this vital national priority.”

Kingscott serves as Vice President, Strategic Partnerships for IBM Research. She is responsible for developing collaborative research partnerships between IBM, industry, academia and government. Ms. Kingscott served as a member of the Secretary of Commerce’s Manufacturing Council 2015-16 and currently is a member of the National Academy of Sciences Innovation Policy Forum. Ms. Kingscott is IBM’s alternate member of the Board of Directors of the Semiconductor Industry Association. She also chairs the SIA CTO Work Group. She is the co- chair of the Task Force on American Innovation, a coalition of companies, university associations and professional societies that supports federal investment in scientific research.

Prior to this, Ms. Kingscott held the IBM Industry Chair at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University. As Visiting Professor, she led classes of senior U.S. military and civilian government executives in science, technology and innovation policy and in studies of the global electronics industry. During her tenure at ICAF, her students won the Antonelli Award for the best industry study and the Commandant’s Award for Outstanding Research in Support of the Director, DOD Research and Engineering.
